Ornament Wreath

So I have been seeing these ornament wreaths all over blogland and was dying to make one.  When I saw this cute little tutorial over at Domestic Fashionista I just had to make one.
I found a bucket of silver ornaments at Marcs for $6.99 and I stole a white wire hanger from my husband's shirts. :)
Here's how it came out:
Winding the wire back together at the top was somewhat of a challenge, but some flower wire and duct tape seemed to hold it together.
Now I need one of those command strips to hang it in my foyer and I will be all set.
Thanks Ashley!

Handmade Gift Exchange - My gift

As I posted yesterday, I participated in the Handmade Gift Exchange over at Craftaholics Anonymous.
Here is what Brooke sent me.
I promptly hung it on our beverage center.
It's perfect!
What a fabulous gift I received.
Happy Holidays!

Handmade Gift Exchange

So my partner Brooke from Johnson Bits received her Handmade Gift Exchange, courtesy of Linda at Craftaholics Anonymous, gift this past weekend, so I can now blog about it!  YAY!
These are my favorite gifts for friends and relatives.
I am never quite sure what to do with my leftover bottles... and we always look for ones with cute labels.
I found a craft that I love to make and it uses those pretty bottles!

It's a wine bottle that has been filled with a mini strand of lights and some filler.
Then you find a lamp shade, embellish it, if you'd like, and place it on the bottle.

And you have a gorgeous little light!

Love it and I hope Brooke does too!

Quick Holiday Craft

While out shopping at Walmart  I came across these cute monogram stocking charms in the Christmas section.  I grabbed an H and wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.   I didn't really have a reason to shop on Black Friday, but I went out just to check things out.   While at Kohls, I found a gorgeous picture frame and instantly I knew what to do with my "H."
Do you love it?  Everyone that has seen it has complimented me on it and asked where to get one.  My mom even went to Kohls to get some frames to make them as gifts this year.
I think I might make a few for my son's teacher gifts this year.
Cheers!

Centerpiece

So I we moved our table from the dining room into the kitchen.  After having Thanksgiving dinner in the dining room, we decided we wanted a bigger table for that space.  Now I have a VERY empty dining room.
Anywho, I decided my table needed a centerpiece, luckily I LOVE glass and have quite a few Apothecary jars laying around the house.  I found some cheap ornaments at Target in the dollar section.
I took some cotton batting and stretched it out to make it look like snow.
And filled my pretty jar.
Now to find a pretty tablecloth or table runner for the table.

More Decorations

So my kitchen was lacking a little Christmas cheer, so I thought I would add something to the lights fixtures.  Here is the before, sorry it's not a great picture, I took it on my phone.
I found some cute little flower rings at Michaels for 1/2 off and put them on the kitchen lights.

It is the perfect touch on the lights.  I put them on the island lights as well.  Now I am debating getting the larger size to hang on the backs of my chairs.  Maybe if they go a little cheaper...
Happy Saturday!

It's Christmas time!

I have been busy decorating for Christmas around our house.
I am hosting a spa party at my home next week and want everything to be perfect.

I have been working on my garland.  I purchased basic green garland and I knew I would be adding picks and flowers to it.  I wanted to do a silver theme in my foyer.
Well, you would be surprised as to how much stuff is not Silver.  It was very frustrating.

Anywho, I purchased white poinsettia flowers at Pat Catan's.

The centers were red and fake flower looking, so I painted them silver with glitter glue.
The stuff worked great.
Here is the finished product in my foyer.
And a close up...
Didn't it come out great?  I have a banister at the top of my stairs that I am working on too.
I just need a few more bows, the one Pat Catan's was out of them.
I love how it came out!  It truly makes me smile with delight when I go upstairs.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend!

Getting in the Christmas Spirit

I have lots to make this year to get our house decorated for Christmas.  With our new home, I have many new places to hang garland and pictures and don't even know where to start.
For inspiration I took a look at my sister-in-law's home.  Her house is fabulous year round, but especially beautiful at Christmas.  I wish she lived here so she could help decorate my house!
Here's a few pictures from last year...

Isn't it beautiful?  She is so talented.

I did decorate!

Well, I did decorate for the Fall Harvest!
Here is our dining room...

Can you believe I got that little chandelier on the table from Marc's for $3??
The tablecloth is from Target.
With the lights off... so spooky!
Our foyer and stairwell.  Hopefully I will find more garland on sale for next year!
Our front door and our little monkey!
I hope everyone had a great Halloween!

I am in love with Damask

While my grandparents were in town from Kentucky, they helped me hang some window treatments in our new home.  Thank goodness b/c the hubby HATES to hang anything!
Currently, I am in LOVE with damask.  While on a trip to Joann Fabrics my mom and I found this beautiful fabric which I thought would go perfectly over our kitchen window.  And boy was I right!

Here is a close-up of the fabric.  We added the beading to give it just something extra.

Isn't she gorgeous?  She makes me smile whenever I am in the kitchen.  Thankfully my Memau didn't mind making this for me, b/c lord knows I do not have the time.

Smiles!

Happy Thanksgiving

Well I cooked my first turkey today... with help from my Mom of course.  The "pop-up" never popped on the turkey, and I was frantic, but it ended up being ok.  I think we had a defective pop-up.  LOL.
Anywho, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

I am on my way to Toys R Us... crazy, I know!  I guess people have been lined up since 3 pm this afternoon.  Why can't they just have online sales for everything?
Gotta love Black Friday!

What a busy month!

So sorry for the delay in writing.  October has been a busy month.  We moved into the new house.
(We are putting our yard in next Spring)
We got married on 10-10-10
My father passed away... and we found out we are having another baby - Due June 7!
So needless to say it has been a busy month.

I am so jealous of the bloggers out there that can continually update their blogs.  I think my 2011 resolution might be to make an effort for at least 1 or 2 posts per week.
Maybe if I didn't work full time I would be able to keep it!

Smiles!

We have lights!

I was uber excited as I went through the house last weekend.  We have lights!!  YAY!
The company our builder uses has you pick out the lights you like through their website, so you don't see anything in person.  Granted their sales rep is very helpful in making sure that everything matches and goes together.  But it is very awesome to see my vision come together.  I can't wait for it to be done.
Here are some pictures...

YAY, for lights.  Just a few more weeks.  I can hardly wait!

Master Bathroom tile

It took me weeks to pick out what tile I liked best for the bathrooms.  I finally decided on one, then I couldn't decide what type of accent pieces to insert throughout the space.  Well, I made my decision and it went in a few weeks ago.
Here it is...

LOVE!!  It came out perfect!
Now to pick out decorations for this room.
YAY!

Cabinets!

So my computer hates me and I haven't been able to update my blog in forever!
The cabinets for the new house arrived in early August.  This was a moment I had been waiting for!
Here are all of the boxes... seemed like there were a ton!!
Here is the laundry room with black laminant countertops
The double oven and stove area
Fridge...

And here it is complete with the black pearl granite.  I LOVE my kitchen.  I can't wait to cook in here!

I decided to do a saddle color island to break up the white.  It matches perfectly with the hard wood floors.  We added the beadboard paneling to the back as well so it wouldn't look so plain.

Thanks for stopping by!

Foyer Table

So our house should be done in about 2 weeks or so and I still haven't found the perfect table for our foyer.
The foyer looks like this:
I am thinking of doing something like this:

Why is this table so hard to find for under $100?  I am wicked jealous of people who can go to thrift stores and garage sales and find treasures, because around here, I never find ANYTHING!

So that's my rant for the day.  Have a great week.  And let me know if you find this table!

Hanging Name Above Crib

I almost forgot...  I have been up to a few projects too!
Here is one I made for Teddy's Jungle Room!

They were originally white letters that I purchased from Pat Catans.   I spray painted them black, since his furniture is espresso and then took scrapbook paper, traced out the letters, cut them out (which I did twice for the T because I did it backwards) and Mod Podged it onto the wooden letter and over it a few times for a nice shiny glazed look.

I am still debating on what color ribbon to attach to it.  Any thoughts?
Oh, and did I mention his room is painted BRIGHT green??

This picture doesn't do the color justice.  It is Topiary by Glidden.
It is actually a little bit darker now that the second and third coats are up.

It really looks nice with the Zanzibar bedding and accessories we already have from Babies R Us. We are also debating painting some animal murals on the wall. I can't wait to move in and set it all up!
