Flower Headband

So a few days ago I showed you the tutu that I made for my Little Princess.  Here I will show you how I made the headband to match.
I purchased a stem of flowers from Joanns and pulled them off the stem.

I then took apart the flowers so they would lay flat.
I then hot glued them back together by putting glue around the center of the flower.

I then measured my headband elastic to a headband that I had purchased at the store, since I knew that fit her head.
I sewed up the ends with matching thread.

And finally hot glued the flower onto the headband.

Ta-da!!
I also added a rhinestone in the middle to add some bling.

Isn't she adorable?!?! And yes, I know the flower is as large as her head.  LOL.

I made a sunflower one as well!

I think the next one I am going to make will be interchangeable so I don't have so many headbands and I will be able to use them on bigger headbands as she gets bigger.

Enjoy!

Tutu Cute!

I made a pink tutu for my little princess over the past week.
Here is how I did it:
I cut strips of tulle into 16 inch strips
Cut a piece of elastic to my daughter's waist and looped the tulle onto the elastic.  You can do this as loose or as tight as you would like depending on how many pieces of tulle you want to add.

Getting close to being done...

I hot glued on some rhinestones to bling it up a bit.
The finished product.
(I made the headband too.  Tutorial coming soon!)

Isn't it cute?
Here is the little princess sleeping through the photo shoot.

Hope you have a great day!

Mobile for Baby Lexi

So I have been getting things ready for Miss Alexis to arrive sometime this month.
I had some really cute fairies that my mom had given me a while back and thought they would make a really cute mobile over Lexi's changing table.
Aren't they adorable?
So I purchased some pink ribbon and a round wreath form from JoAnns.

I wrapped the ribbon around the wreath and secured it with some push pins.

Next I tied up where it will hang from the ceiling.  This was somewhat challenging to do by yourself!

Then I strung on the fairies.

Lexi's view...
The mobile needs a little something but I haven't found it yet.
Maybe once the dresser arrives next week and we start hanging the pictures on the wall it will come to me.

Hope you like it too!

Valentine's Day iPod Treats

I finished my son's Valentine's for his teachers, his babysitter, and a few of my
work friends that always call me "that mom."  LOL!
I saw the idea for these Valentine iPods at Tara Frey and I fell in love with them.
I used rainbow yarn as the headphone cord and Hershey kisses as the ear buds
b/c that's what I had on hand.

The back says "You Rock" and my son's name.

I just love them.  Can't wait to give them, er,  I mean have my son,
give them out on Valentine's day.

New Camera

So my wonderful hubby got me the Canon - EOS Digital Rebel Digital SLR Camera for Christmas.

We waited to get some expert advice from our niece who lives in CT and is really into photography.
We visited them over the holidays and I got a similar version to hers.
We ordered it on Saturday so it should come this week.

And to hold this lovely, I ordered this from Janine King Designs on Etsy.
I told you yesterday that I am obsessed with pink and damask!
Well that's all for today.  Can't wait to get my Christmas gifts so I can take some non-iPhone pictures.

It's a girl

I am so excited to tell you that I am having a Baby Girl.
Anyone that knows me IRL knows that I LOVE pink and having been dreaming of a little girl for a long time.  I am also slightly obsessed with Damask print.
Here are some fabrics I am looking at for her nursery courtesy of Fabric.com

I can't seem to find black and white bedding with pink accents for a decent price, so my mom and I are going to try and recreate it.  Let me know if you have any pointers.

Handmade Gift Exchange

So my partner Brooke from Johnson Bits received her Handmade Gift Exchange, courtesy of Linda at Craftaholics Anonymous, gift this past weekend, so I can now blog about it!  YAY!
These are my favorite gifts for friends and relatives.
I am never quite sure what to do with my leftover bottles... and we always look for ones with cute labels.
I found a craft that I love to make and it uses those pretty bottles!

It's a wine bottle that has been filled with a mini strand of lights and some filler.
Then you find a lamp shade, embellish it, if you'd like, and place it on the bottle.

And you have a gorgeous little light!

Love it and I hope Brooke does too!

Headband Organization

So, as our home is being built we are living out of boxes. It is truly awful and I can't find a thing.
As I went for my "go-to" headband the other morning, it had snapped from being stuffed in an old make-up bag!
So on my lunch break, of course, I googled headband holders and found this wonderful idea over at Joy's Hope.
What a fabulous idea!
Here it goes.

I took an empty oatmeal container, that luckily my mom had just finished, and pealed the label off.

I picked out some really cute pink damask paper to cover it with.

I put the paper around the container to make sure it fit, it took two 12x12 sheets.
We couldn't find the lid, so I thought I would make a paper cover for the bottom as well.

After it was cut, I applied Mod Podge, to put the paper on the container, then a thin layer over the paper and let dry for about 30 minutes.

And Voila!  A perfect headband holder!  Love it!
If I would of had a lid I would put my other hair jewels in there as well, but this will work perfect for now!

Have a great weekend!

Diaper Cake

I love attending Baby Showers and somewhat feel like an expert now that I have a son. I now have a trademark gift that I bring to all my friend's showers. Here it is below...

Here are some of the goodies I put on the cake.

For the center I usually use a bottle, but I thought I would be "green" and use my son's empty Graduates Puffs container and fill it with Dark Chocolate. Hey, it's healthy right? And what pregnant woman doesn't crave chocolate!
And here is the beautiful Diaper Cake. It took a few extra diapers for this one, I think in total around 74 or so. I always use Size 1 diapers, though have contemplated using a bigger size so the mom to be can enjoy it a little longer.

Congrats Sinda~ I can't wait to meet Little Peyton!!
