Valentine's Day iPod Treats

I finished my son's Valentine's for his teachers, his babysitter, and a few of my
work friends that always call me "that mom."  LOL!
I saw the idea for these Valentine iPods at Tara Frey and I fell in love with them.
I used rainbow yarn as the headphone cord and Hershey kisses as the ear buds
b/c that's what I had on hand.

The back says "You Rock" and my son's name.

I just love them.  Can't wait to give them, er,  I mean have my son,
give them out on Valentine's day.
XOXO

Pottery Barn Decorating Class

On Sunday my mom and I went to Pottery Barn to a decorating class on How to Set Up Your New Home.   My mom and I thought it would be mostly decorating, but it was more about what to register for and what the essentials are.
They showed you some different plate settings (formal, casual, and everyday) along with some fun ways to accessorize your table.  They showed different flatware that went with each setting as well.

They then showed ALL of the glassware that they offer.  Talking about each piece, what you really needed, and what some pieces could also be used for
(i.e. wine glass as a water glass, martini glass for dessert, etc.)

They also showed different barware that they carried and pieces that you should have
and pieces that are more of a conversation starter.

After showing those pieces they showed picture frames and other ways to
decorate by using glass, plants, and botanicals.

Now, while I didn't take any photos during the class (I plan to ask about this next time!)
I did take some photos throughout the store for your viewing pleasure.

Cute tablescape

Loved all the greenery on this table

Beautiful botanicals and glass (my personal fave!)

Love this terrarium look (sorry it came out blurry!)

Our next class is in two weeks and it's How to Accessorize Your Home.

Resolution - Get rid of some clothes

So when I moved out of my mom's house I left half of my closet there.  That was 2 years ago.  Now she is getting ready to sell her condo so I had to get all of my stuff out.
Too bad my closet here was already full!
Here is the after math:
 Yikes!

 What I got rid of!
What I kept!

Luckily I had a good friend at work who took almost everything I was donating.
At least my clothes went to a good home and I can still see them.
Tear!

It feels good to have gotten rid of things that I hadn't worn in a VERY long time.
What did you get rid of this weekend?

Banana Bread

So, I gave my husband a banana for lunch yesterday (yes I sometimes pack his lunch.)  He told me the bananas were not so good and to throw them out.  Well, I wasn't about to waste 3 bananas that I just bought on Saturday.  So I decided to make Banana Bread.  I found an awesome recipe on Food Network's website.  It was super easy and the bread came out fabulous!
I usually burn everything I attempt to bake, so I was ecstatic that it came out perfect.

As my husband said this morning, 4 of 5 gorillas agree that it's great bread!  LOL.
It's now named Gorilla's Choice Bread.
Anyway, if you have some leftover bananas, put them to good use and make some banana bread!

New Camera

So my wonderful hubby got me the Canon - EOS Digital Rebel Digital SLR Camera for Christmas.

We waited to get some expert advice from our niece who lives in CT and is really into photography.
We visited them over the holidays and I got a similar version to hers.
We ordered it on Saturday so it should come this week.

And to hold this lovely, I ordered this from Janine King Designs on Etsy.
I told you yesterday that I am obsessed with pink and damask!
Well that's all for today.  Can't wait to get my Christmas gifts so I can take some non-iPhone pictures.

XOXO

It's a girl

I am so excited to tell you that I am having a Baby Girl.
Anyone that knows me IRL knows that I LOVE pink and having been dreaming of a little girl for a long time.  I am also slightly obsessed with Damask print.
Here are some fabrics I am looking at for her nursery courtesy of Fabric.com

I can't seem to find black and white bedding with pink accents for a decent price, so my mom and I are going to try and recreate it.  Let me know if you have any pointers.
XOXO

Coasters

Ok, so don't hate me but I forgot to blog about the coasters I have been seeing all over blogland that I made for Christmas gifts.
I found a cute ornament at Walmart and put it on top of the little packages
All three package and ready to go.
I found a couple more ornaments that I like at Walmart and eventually unwrapped the other two sets and added the ornament.  It's the perfect little topper on these cute homeade gifts.
Enjoy!

What we had for dinner tonight

I made yummy Chicken Stuffed shells, because I was craving them so bad.

One of my best friend's made these for me when I visited her in Columbus a little over a month ago and they are fabulous.  Probably better to be made on a Saturday or Sunday, but they are delish.
You can even keep these ingredients in the pantry and just whip this up...

You will need:

 2 cans of chicken
1 box of shells
1 box of chicken stuffing
4 cups Colby/Monterey shredded cheese (or whatever you have on hand)
1 large family cream of chicken (or 2 small cans)
Milk
To make:
  1. Cooks shells and stuffing (for my husband and I, I make about 18 shells which fills my pan nicely and leaves leftovers for lunch)
  2. Mix stuffing, drained chicken, and 2 ½ cups cheese. (Make sure that you shred the chicken with a fork as you mix it with the cooked stuffing and cheese)
  3. Grease the casserole dish and place stuffed shells in the dish.
  4. Mix cream of chicken & milk with whisk. (you want to make it the consistency of like a gravy, where it’s not too thick or too thin)
  5. Pour the gravy mixture over the shells until coated.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil.
  7. Bake in the oven @ 350 degrees for 30 min.
  8. Uncover and sprinkle the rest of the bag of cheese on top.
  9. Bake uncovered for 10-15 min. or until cheese has melted.
They are truly yummalicious!  I served ours with salad tonight and it was fabulous.
Happy Monday!
